Johannesburg – EFF leader Julius Malema has expressed support for former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, after she was expelled from the MK party.
The uMkhonto we Sizwe Party (MK party) announced on Thursday that it had expelled Zuma-Sambudla and former national spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela with immediate effect, citing conduct that was “inconsistent with its constitution.”
The party said their actions undermined unity, discipline and organisational principles, with Zuma-Sambudla accused of making public statements and social media posts that promoted factionalism.

Following her expulsion, Malema praised Zuma-Sambudla’s resilience, saying she had “been strong since she was a young girl, dealing with adult issues,” and encouraging her to remain steadfast.
Zuma-Sambudla strongly rejected her expulsion, insisting she remains a founding member of MK and accusing party leaders of promoting internal divisions and pursuing hidden political agendas.

In a series of posts on social media platform X, she argued that critics within the movement were undermining the party’s liberation goals and targeting her personally.

She further claimed that some leaders within MK were acting out of self-interest rather than loyalty to the movement, and said attempts to sideline her reflected broader internal power struggles within the party.
