Zimbabwean businessman and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo has attracted attention after sharing a viral video showing Kenyan President William Ruto personally driving him.
The light-hearted moment took place following the traditional wedding ceremony of Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, which Chivayo and his wife attended as guests.
Chivayo described the short three-kilometre journey as one of the most memorable experiences of his life.
“After attending the beautiful engagement celebration of the daughter of His Excellency, President William Samoei Ruto, I honestly thought the day could not get any more special. As I was leaving i then realised GOD had reserved one more and final UNFORGETTABLE moment for me,” he wrote.

“Imagine HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT RUTO personally offered to DRIVE ME and drop me approximately three kilometres to the helipad where I had left my helicopter. Imagine me sitting in the front PASSENGER SEAT with my wife at the back while the PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA, the HEAD OF STATE himself, was behind the steering wheel personally driving me to the chopper!!! I sat there overwhelmed with JOY, thinking, “GOD, WHAT KIND OF GRACE IS THIS?” I’ve lived large and had many different and exceptionally beautiful experiences in my OPULENT lifestyle , but certainly THIS WAS A FIRST. Those three kilometres alone will forever remain one of the most PRICELESS journeys of my life.”
The video prompted widespread reactions, with followers praising Chivayo’s growing connections with influential African figures.
Some described the encounter as “pure grace” and a source of pride for Zimbabwe, while others jokingly speculated about his close ties with powerful leaders.
The businessman has increasingly spent time in Kenya for business and leisure and has developed relationships with influential figures there, according to The South African.
