Krugersdorp – Five South African nationals have been arrested after police uncovered a suspected multi-million-rand drug manufacturing laboratory at a farm in Krugersdorp, Gauteng.
The discovery was made during an operation involving the South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Intelligence at National Head Office and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI).
Police said quantities of Mandrax and ecstasy tablets were found at the suspected laboratory.
“The SAPS Crime Intelligence at National Head Office and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (DPCI) has uncovered another multi-million rand drug manufacturing laboratory at a farm in Krugersdorp, Gauteng,” SAPS said in a statement.
According to police, five South African nationals found on the premises were arrested in connection with the discovery.

“Five South African nationals who were found at the premises have been arrested,” SAPS said.
The operation remained an active crime scene, with senior police officers travelling to the farm to conduct further assessments and investigations.
“Senior SAPS officers are en route to the scene, where further assessments and investigations are underway,” police said.
The latest discovery forms part of ongoing police efforts to dismantle drug manufacturing operations and remove illicit drugs from circulation.
SAPS said the investigation was continuing, with further details expected as officers assess the scene and determine the full extent of the alleged drug manufacturing operation.
