Durban – A foetus was discovered inside a portable chemical toilet while it was being serviced by a plumbing company in Bhambayi, Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said its officers were called to the scene at about 14:40 after the company’s truck driver reported the discovery.
According to RUSA, employees were cleaning the portable toilet when a pipe became blocked.
“The sewage was drained to inspect the obstruction when the foetus was discovered,” the emergency response organisation said.
Reaction officers were dispatched to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
The organisation did not provide further details about the condition of the foetus or whether any arrests had been made.
The circumstances leading to the foetus being inside the portable chemical toilet were not immediately clear.
Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and establish how the foetus came to be inside the toilet.
