Cape Town – South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape has launched an urgent investigation following a triple murder in Gugulethu on Monday evening.
Police spokespersons said officers responded to a complaint at around 20:22 in Nontulo Street, New Cross, where they discovered two bodies – a man and a woman – inside a residence.
Both victims had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper body.
“At approximately 20:22, SAPS members responded to a complaint at Nontulo Street, New Cross, where they discovered the bodies of two victims, a male and a female, inside a residence.
“Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper body. A third male victim was found outside the premises with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. The deceased males are aged 33 and 46,” polie said in a statement.
The identity and age of the female victim have not yet been disclosed.
Authorities confirmed that the motive for the killings remains unknown at this stage and forms part of an ongoing investigation.
Detectives from SAPS’ Serious and Violent Crime unit have been assigned to the case and are pursuing all available leads.
Police have appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation. Tip-offs can be reported via Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or through the MySAPSApp, with confidentiality assured.
