Cape Town – The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating a case in which a KwaZulu-Natal man, 34, was reportedly shot dead by police after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend while visiting her on January 1.
According to The Citizen, IPID said that police responded after they were informed about the stabbing incident.
When they arrived at the deceased girlfriend’s home, they found the boyfriend “cutting the woman’s stomach open and removing her intestines”.
It was as if “he was conducting the post mortem”, the spokesperson for the IPID, Grace Langa was quoted as saying.
The man was shot and killed after he allegedly tried to attack the police officers, Langa said, according to News24.
She said IPID was still trying to identify the victim.
Three 9mm empty cartridges were found on the scene and the knife was also recovered.
