Durban – A 69-year-old medical doctor has been arrested in KwaZulu-Natal for allegedly sexually assaulting multiple patients at a hospital in Madadeni.
The South African Police Service said the arrest was carried out on Tuesday by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit, working with Madadeni police officers.
Police allege the doctor assaulted four female patients between August 2025 and April 2026.
The suspect is accused of inappropriately touching the victims and, in some cases, forcing them to perform sexual acts.
“The suspect would allegedly touch the victims inappropriately on their breasts and private parts, and he also allegedly forced some of them to perform sexual acts on him,” police said.
“The victims complained to a whistleblower who anonymously alerted the police.”
Investigators then followed up on the tip-off, leading to formal complaints by the victims and the subsequent arrest.
Authorities said additional charges could be added if more victims come forward.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
