Cape Town – A 15-year-old boy from Zastron, Free State was arrested and charged with murder after fatally stabbing his classmate on Wednesday.
In a statement, the police said that they were called to the school where the incident occurred at around 14:20.
“On arrival members discovered that the suspect was chased and arrested by community members who witnessed the unfortunate incident. The victim had already been taken to hospital but unfortunately succumbed to the stab wound he suffered in the chest,” said the police in a statement.
It’s alleged the suspect and the victim had an altercation which had become physical earlier at school. The suspect was called to the principal’s office and was instructed to go call his parents. Instead, he returned with a knife and waited to attack the victim after school.
“The fight started again and the suspect stabbed the victim once in the chest and fled the scene. The teacher who was nearby took the victim in his vehicle with the knife still stuck in his chest to the hospital and on his way met the Emergency services who unfortunately declared the 15-year-old dead before he could reach the hospital,” said the police.
The 15-year-old suspect will appear in court soon.
