Cape Town – It sounded like a novel kind of love story, as media mogul and actress, Connie Ferguson talked about her relationship with her late husband, Shona and their last conversation before he died.
Shona died on July 30 2021 at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg as a result of Covid-19 complications.
The veteran actress shared, during an interview on kaya969’s morning show, their last moments before Shona died, revealing that they had planned to renew their marriage vows.
“We had this dance planned for our 20th. I remember when he was in hospital I kept on reminding him that he owes me a dance. The very early morning of the 30th I said to him one more day and it didn’t pan out that day,” said Connie.
She recalled every detail of the last conversation with her soul-mate.
“I remember the last thing I said to him and the last thing he said to me before they incubated him. He had suffered so much.
“As I was massaging his feet I told him that he is my soul mate. He couldn’t speak because he had a CPAP mask. He pointed at me too. Those were literally the last words spoken to each other before he went under. I said a lot of words after that to him hoping he could hear me but because of communication, that was it,” reminisced the actress.
The two had met at a time when Connie wasn’t looking for a relationship or interested in getting married again, but it was Shona’s laughter and big smile that changed the actress’ mind.
On the same day, Connie heard Shona’s laughter, they were introduced and within that same year, Shona paid lobola and the love birds got married.
“We met on the 31st of July and in October Magadi (lobola) was paid and at the end of November, we had a wedding. The feelings developed so quickly. I had never felt like that in my entire life.
She also talked about her entrepreneurial journey, motherhood, her life as a freelance actress and more.
