Johannesburg – Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Geordin Hill-Lewis says Johannesburg residents will see “integrity” in government if Helen Zille becomes mayor after the 4 November local government elections.
Hill-Lewis was speaking to DA supporters during the party’s Working For All Tour in Johannesburg on Thursday as the party campaigns ahead of the elections.
“We will not disappoint you. With your support, you will see what integrity looks like in government and what a working city feels like,” he said.
Hill-Lewis linked the party’s campaign to improving basic municipal services, arguing that functioning services could support economic activity and reduce the costs residents incur when they have to arrange services themselves.
“When basic things start working, something important will happen. Businesses invest again. People get into work. Opportunity is spread,” he said.

Zille is the DA’s mayoral candidate for Johannesburg, with the party making service delivery, municipal management and infrastructure central themes of its campaign.
The local government elections are scheduled for 4 November 2026, with the composition of the Johannesburg council determining which party or coalition can govern the city.
