The court ordered Parliament to establish a committee to assess whether Ramaphosa is fit to remain in office.
Speaking at the SACP’s Chris Hani commemoration in Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga on Sunday, Mapaila warned that delays in the impeachment process could result in state infrastructure being sold off.
He accused the Government of National Unity (GNU) of planning to privatise Eskom and collaborating with the IMF, which he described as a “new form of state capture.”
“The GNU government wants to sell Eskom. They want to put Eskom in the market, and they think we don’t know that. They are collaborating with the IMF. That will never happen as long as we are alive in South Africa,” said Mapaila.

He also remarked on the Communist Party’s celebration of the Constitutional Court ruling.
“We welcome this Constitutional Court judgment. This impeachment must move fast because if it is delayed, we will have no government infrastructure, as everything would have been sold,” Mapaila said.

He also alleged that business interests linked to Operation Vulindlela were influencing decisions within the Presidency and claimed essential resources, including water, were being commercialised.
The comments come as the ANC moves to issue letters to members with dual party membership following a National Executive Committee (NEC) resolution to enforce constitutional rules prohibiting membership or support of another political party, IOL reported.
According to reports, ANC members affiliated with the SACP have been given 10 days from Thursday to indicate which party they intend to back in the 2026 local government elections.
