Pretoria – National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has made his first court appearance in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, where he will now join Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala and 12 co-accused in a R360 million SAPS health services tender case.
The State confirmed that the charges are not schedule five offences, while the charge sheet in Matlala’s case will be amended to include Masemola.
The allegations stem from the controversial tender linked to Medicare24 Tshwane District, which is at the centre of broader corruption investigations within SAPS.
Despite the charges, Masemola maintained his innocence, telling reporters: “I know that I am not guilty, I am not wrong, but of course, the trial must still take its course.”
He also urged police officers to remain focused on their duties amid the unfolding case.
