Johannesburg – Suspended SAPS Crime Intelligence deputy head Major-General Feroz Khan has been discharged from hospital and transferred to a secure, undisclosed location for intensive rehabilitation after surviving an apparent assassination attempt in Houghton, Johannesburg, last month.
According to TimesLIVE, Khan was shot just days before he was due to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. Following his discharge from Milpark Hospital, he has been moved to an undisclosed location where he will continue his recovery.
The update was also confirmed on Saturday by crime activist Yusuf Abramjee, who said Khan had been transferred to a “secure, undisclosed location for intensive rehabilitation”.

Khan’s attorney, Mohammed Valley, said the senior police officer would now focus on his recovery under tight security.
“He will now focus on recovery and rehabilitation, with strict security measures in place to ensure his safety.”
According to TimesLIVE, Valley confirmed that the Madlanga Commission has been informed of Khan’s discharge, allowing his legal team to begin preparing for his appearance before the inquiry.
However, Khan faces a race against time to recover sufficiently to testify before the commission, which is scheduled to conclude on 31 July.

Khan was unable to appear before the commission after the shooting, prompting the inquiry to hear evidence relating to him in his absence.
The commission has heard several allegations against Khan, including claims of corruption, interference in investigations and unexplained wealth. The allegations remain untested, and Khan has denied any wrongdoing. As with all evidence presented before the commission, the allegations remain unproven unless established through due process.
Authorities have not released further details about Khan’s medical condition or the location where he is undergoing rehabilitation.
Investigations into the shooting are continuing, and no arrests have been announced.
