Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa has filed court papers seeking to review and overturn the Section 89 Independent Panel Report linked to the Phala Phala scandal, escalating the legal battle over the impeachment process against him.
The move comes after the Constitutional Court recently referred the report back to Parliament, clearing the way for impeachment proceedings to continue.
Following that ruling, Parliament also announced the MPs who will sit on the committee that will decide whether Ramaphosa should face impeachment.

In papers lodged at the Western Cape High Court, Ramaphosa argues that the panel’s findings and recommendations should be declared unlawful and set aside.
The report had found “prima facie evidence of a serious violation of the constitution, law, and serious misconduct,” which the president is now challenging.
