Pretoria – Police in Gauteng are investigating a house robbery at the Pretoria home of former international relations minister and Nelson Mandela University chancellor Naledi Pandor, in which armed suspects forced entry, held the family at gunpoint, and stole several valuables before fleeing in the family’s vehicle.
The incident took place on Friday night at Pandor’s home in Villieria, Tshwane, at around 9pm when three armed suspects entered the property.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the suspects confronted Pandor in her bedroom while another suspect held her husband in the bathroom as the house was searched and ransacked.

“Several items were stolen, including televisions, a laptop and mobile phones, before the suspects fled the scene in the family’s Toyota Cross,” Mathe said, as reported by The Citizen. She added that the vehicle was later recovered in Mamelodi East.
Mathe confirmed that no injuries were reported and that police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
“Police are working around the clock to trace and apprehend those responsible,” she said.
The district commissioner of Tshwane, Major General Samuel Thine, is expected to visit the family to provide an update on the investigation.
The South African Police Service (Saps) said investigations into the robbery are continuing, with no arrests yet made.
