Durban – A woman was shot dead, while a delivery motorcyclist and a child were injured in a shooting in Durban North on Sunday evening.
According to ALS Paramedics, the incident occurred shortly after 5:30pm on Blackburn Road, near Park Road.
Paramedics arrived to find security personnel and members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) already at the scene, with the road cordoned off.
Medics discovered a woman, believed to be in her 40s, inside a vehicle that had been riddled with bullets.
She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.
ALS Paramedics said a delivery rider was also wounded after allegedly being struck by gunfire while riding past the scene.
He reportedly stopped a short distance away, where paramedics stabilised him before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
A child sustained minor injuries during the incident and was also taken to hospital for medical care.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been established.
Blackburn Road remained closed for several hours while SAPS officers processed the scene and launched an investigation.
Police have not yet released further details, including the motive for the shooting or whether any arrests have been made.
