Johannesburg – Convicted murderer and “Facebook rapist” Thabo Bester says he wanted to give testimony to Parliament’s ad hoc committee probing criminal justice corruption, but claims MPs rejected his request because they are “scared” of the evidence he holds about high‑ranking officials.
“I have certain evidence about certain executives right now,” Bester told eNCA on the sidelines of his court appearance on Tuesday.
He added: “They don’t want me because they are scared that it will cause drama. We did state the reason why we wanted to be there.”

Bester’s legal team had written to the committee seeking guidance on how his testimony could be secured, but the committee refused, saying they would not allow the platform to be used for “personal scores”, Times Live reported.
Committee chairperson Soviet Lekganyane said Bester is a convicted criminal who escaped custody and that his concerns about prison treatment should be taken up by the portfolio committee on correctional services, not Parliament.
The committee is finalising its report due at the end of March.
