Cape Town – A payment dispute between a self-described sex worker and a 78-year-old pensioner was resolved after private security officers intervened at a home in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), officers were dispatched after a resident contacted its Tongaat Operations Centre, reporting that a woman was allegedly throwing stones at a property while demanding money.
On arrival, reaction officers found the woman at the property’s driveway gate.
“She informed officers that she is a sex worker and had arrived to collect outstanding payment for services she allegedly rendered to a 78-year-old pensioner residing at the property,” RUSA said.
“According to the woman, she had provided her services to the Senior Citizen on at least ten (10) previous occasions.”
She further alleged that during her most recent visit, the 78-year-old paid her R100 and promised to pay the remaining balance at a later stage.
When she returned to collect the outstanding amount, the pensioner allegedly told her he did not have the money, prompting an argument.
RUSA said the woman then became aggressive and allegedly threatened the elderly man.
The dispute was resolved on the scene after the pensioner paid the woman R50, which was accepted as full and final settlement of the alleged debt.
No arrests were reported, and it is unclear whether either party intends to pursue further legal action.
The incident was reported by Reaction Unit South Africa, which said the matter was resolved without further incident.
