Johannesburg – The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) is reportedly investigating officers who were filmed forcibly dragging a driver from his vehicle and throwing him to the ground during a traffic stop.

Although no formal complaint has been lodged, the JMPD said it was treating the incident with urgency and encouraged those involved to provide statements, The Citizen reported.
The department reiterated that it condemns any abuse of power or unprofessional conduct.
“To ensure a thorough and complete investigation, we strongly encourage the complainants to come forward and provide formal statements to investigators,” the report quoted JMPD as saying.
“As an organisation, the JMPD unequivocally condemns any abuse of power, misconduct, corruption, or unprofessional behaviour that undermines public trust and damages the integrity of law enforcement.”
