Cape Town – A 29-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man are expected to appear before the Kuilsrivier Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, on charges of possession and dealing in drugs following a major bust by the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team.
The pair were arrested in the early hours of Monday, 15 June 2026, after police received intelligence indicating suspected drug activity at a bed and breakfast in the Langverwacht area, Kuilsrivier, in the Western Cape.
The suspect was instructed to unlock the vehicle, after which a search was conducted.
Police discovered a substantial quantity of mandrax tablets inside the bag. Further inspection of the vehicle revealed additional bags containing more mandrax as well as crystal methamphetamine.
In total, 51 bags of mandrax tablets and approximately five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of R3 million, were confiscated and booked as exhibits. Officers also recovered R17 000 in cash, which is believed to be the proceeds of criminal activity.
Both suspects were immediately arrested on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
