Grangetown, KwaZulu-Natal – A 15-year-old girl escaped an alleged kidnapping attempt while walking near a secondary school in Grangetown, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday afternoon.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said the teenager was walking to a nearby premises to receive tuition when an unknown man driving a white vehicle stopped alongside her.
According to RUSA, the man approached the girl and complimented her before three other men joined him.
“The man approached the girl and complimented her,” RUSA said in a statement.
The first suspect allegedly grabbed the teenager, but she managed to break free and flee the scene.
“The girl managed to break free and fled the scene,” the organisation said.
The suspects allegedly drove away after noticing people in the vicinity.
RUSA said paramedics were dispatched to assist the teenager, who was visibly shaken following the incident, while reaction officers searched the surrounding area for the suspects.
The teenager was initially unable to provide further details about the vehicle because of her emotional state, RUSA said.
“Due to her emotional state following the incident, the teenager was initially unable to provide further details regarding the vehicle,” the organisation said.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged attempted kidnapping remain under investigation.
