The 53-year-old is accused of misusing his position in the police’s finance division to approve fraudulent payments, allegedly diverting funds meant for Presidential Protection Services officers for personal use.
Investigators say the payments were disguised as travel expenses, but the officers never received the money.
The alleged fraud was uncovered during an internal probe that flagged suspicious transactions, leading to his arrest by the SAPS anti-corruption unit.
