South Africa – South Africa is set for partly cloudy and warm to cool conditions on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms expected across parts of the central, eastern and southern regions.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued several weather warnings, including a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in the southeastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
According to SAWS, the thunderstorms could bring heavy downpours, damaging winds, hail and excessive lightning.
“These conditions may lead to localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges and localised damage to settlement and infrastructure,” the weather service warned.
A second yellow level 2 warning has been issued for damaging winds along the KwaZulu-Natal coast and adjacent interior between Port Edward and Richards Bay.

The conditions could make navigation difficult and put small vessels at risk of capsizing. The warning is expected to spread eastwards to Plettenberg Bay and northwards to Alexander Bay in the Northern Cape by the evening and persist into Thursday.
In Gauteng, residents can expect partly cloudy and cool conditions, becoming warm in the north, with a high UVB sunburn index.
