Pretoria – A captain attached to the South African Police Service Forensic Science Laboratory has been arrested on charges of defeating the ends of justice in connection with several high-profile murder investigations.
The officer was arrested at his Pretoria residence on Friday by the Commission’s Recommendations Task Team following an investigation into allegations linked to evidence presented before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
“The arrest relates to allegations of defeating the ends of justice in several high-profile murder cases currently under investigation as well as evidence before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry,” SAPS said in a statement.
During the arrest operation, investigators seized several state-owned items, including ballistic reports, ammunition and other evidential material believed to be relevant to ongoing investigations.
Police did not disclose further details about the specific murder cases involved or the nature of the allegations against the officer.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 May 2026.
