Johannesburg – A multi-vehicle crash on the N3 southbound near Van Buuren Road has led to significant traffic congestion, with several lanes closed on Thursday.
Authorities confirmed that three middle lanes have been shut following the collision, causing delays for motorists travelling along the busy route.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Freeway Unit responded to the scene and is currently managing traffic flow in the area.

“Three (3) middle lanes are currently closed, causing traffic congestion in the area,” EMPD said in a statement.
Motorists have been urged to exercise caution and remain patient as officers work to clear the scene and restore normal traffic conditions.
“EMPD Freeway Unit Officers are on scene, motorists are advised to approach with caution and be patient,” the department added.
No immediate information was available regarding injuries or the number of vehicles involved. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
