Durban – A 50-year-old businessman who was reported missing in KwaZulu-Natal has been found dead with a gunshot wound in Riverview, north of Durban.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), Navin Shurren was discovered on Tuesday morning on Estuary Drive after members of the public alerted authorities to an unresponsive man.
Reaction officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 06:22 and found Shurren lying on an embankment. He was declared dead at the scene after it was established that he had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Shurren, a self-employed businessman, had been reported missing from Trenance Park after last being seen on Monday night at around 22:28 leaving a service station in a white Chevrolet utility vehicle.
His cellphone had been switched off since his disappearance.
His vehicle had not been recovered at the time of reporting.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
