Durban – A woman kidnapped alongside seven others from a home in Sundumbili, KwaZulu-Natal, has been rescued unharmed following a coordinated police operation that led to the arrest of three suspects.
According to the South African Police Service, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, 15 May 2026, when unknown armed men abducted eight people from a residence at Chappies Section in the Mandeville area.
Police said, “The seven victims were reportedly released at KwaDabeka a little later, however the woman, who recently received her Road Accident Fund (RAF) payout, was taken to an unknown location.”
The Provincial Tracking Team was activated and quickly traced one of the vehicles allegedly used in the kidnapping, leading to the arrest of three suspects. Investigations then led officers to Phoenix, where the missing woman — believed to be in her mid-to-late 30s — was found safe.
Authorities said the suspects attempted to access the victim’s money, adding: “The suspects attempted several transactions to no avail, however they managed to make purchases amounting to R30 000.”
Police have also issued a warning to the public regarding financial disclosures, stating: “Police are appealing to RAF beneficiaries not to disclose their payouts or brag about the money.”
The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon, while investigations continue to trace additional suspects linked to the kidnapping.
