Durban – Two suspected members of an alleged theft syndicate were arrested in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal, after being caught with stolen goods during an operation by Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
According to RUSA, its officers acted on information about a group of men allegedly planning to target a business premises after hours and steal high-value items on Tuesday evening.
The private security organisation said its officers tracked a blue Volkswagen Polo carrying several suspects believed to be involved in the operation. Officers identified the vehicle and moved in as it departed the targeted premises.
Two suspects were arrested during the operation and stolen goods were recovered. No additional syndicate members were found in the vehicle at the time of the arrests.
RUSA said the suspects are residents of KwaMashu, north of Durban.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged theft and the value of the recovered goods have not yet been disclosed.
Police are expected to investigate the matter further, while the suspects are likely to face charges related to theft and possession of stolen property.
