Durban – A bread delivery crew was robbed at gunpoint while offloading bread in Palmview, Phoenix, north of Durban, on Sunday afternoon.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), officers were dispatched to Palmview Drive at approximately 13:47 following reports of an armed robbery.
RUSA said the delivery vehicle had been parked on the roadside while the driver and crew were offloading bread when two armed men approached them on foot.
“Both men were armed with handguns,” RUSA said.
The suspects allegedly held the crew at gunpoint before taking an undisclosed amount of cash collected during their deliveries.
The gunmen then attempted to hijack the delivery vehicle but were unable to start it.
“They thereafter fled on foot with the stolen cash,” RUSA said.
RUSA officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspects, who remain at large.
No injuries were reported in the robbery.
