Durban — All patrons inside the Durban Magistrate’s Court were swiftly evacuated after a bomb threat was reported inside the building.
Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said police were quick on the scene to search, TimesLIVE reported.
“The explosives and K9 units of the South African Police Service in KwaZulu-Natal are conducting a precautionary search and sweeping at the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
“This is after an unknown person called the court and announced that there was a bomb which he said would go off at 10:30 am. The building has been evacuated as a precaution, the quoted Netshiunda as saying.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the building after the bomb threat was reported.

According to The Citizen, several high-profile cases are being heard in the Durban Magistrate’s Court, including the corruption case involving former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede, with the Durban High Court temporarily sitting in the Magistrate’s Court for this matter.
