Johannesburg – Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe has been fined a total of R600,000 and faces immediate deportation to Zimbabwe following his conviction in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court.
Mugabe, the youngest son of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, was fined R400,000 or 24 months’ imprisonment for pointing a firearm, and a further R200,000 or 18 months for contravening South Africa’s Immigration Act.

His co-accused, Tobias Matonhodze, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, along with additional jail terms that will run concurrently.

The case relates to a shooting incident that led to attempted murder charges, with sentencing proceedings concluding on Wednesday.
Mugabe had earlier pleaded guilty to the firearm and immigration offences.
Following sentencing, authorities confirmed that Mugabe will be deported to Zimbabwe.
