Cape Town – Passengers travelling through Cape Town International Airport have been urged to arrive earlier than usual as taxi-related unrest continues to disrupt airport operations, resulting in longer-than-normal queues at security screening.
In a travel advisory issued on its official Facebook page, the airport said operational staffing constraints linked to the ongoing unrest were affecting passenger processing.
Passengers departing on international flights have been advised to arrive at least four hours before departure, while those travelling domestically should arrive at least three hours before their scheduled flights.
The airport urged travellers to factor in the additional waiting time to avoid missing their flights.
Passengers have also been encouraged to monitor traffic conditions before leaving for the airport and confirm flight schedules directly with their airlines.
The airport further recommended using the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) mobile application to access updates.
Airport teams are working to manage passenger movement and minimise disruptions while the operational challenges persist.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding,” the airport said.
Travellers have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly as the airport works to manage the impact of the unrest on its operations.
