Johannesburg – South African coffee and food brand Naked Coffee is expanding its Johannesburg footprint with a new outlet at the One Rosebank luxury residential development on Cradock Avenue.
According to BusinessTech, the new restaurant will form part of One Rosebank, a mixed-use development that combines apartments, restaurants, retail space and resident amenities.
The development is within walking distance of Rosebank Mall, The Zone and The Firs, and about two minutes by car from Rosebank Gautrain Station.
Daily Investor also reported on the planned opening, describing One Rosebank as a development designed around “walkable urban living”, allowing residents to access shops, restaurants and transport without relying heavily on cars.
The development at 37 Cradock Avenue is being developed by the Tricolt Group in partnership with Kent Gush Properties. It includes security features such as 24-hour security, CCTV surveillance and biometric access control, as well as backup power and water supplies.
From coffee hut to growing brand
Naked Coffee was founded in 2015 by Shaun Els and Victor Barbosa, initially operating from a small coffee hut in Melrose Arch before expanding into Morningside.
Barbosa previously told SA Homeowner magazine that the business was driven by a passion for coffee and quality.
“A love for coffee, paired with an acute attention to quality, was the driving force that led us to begin this journey,” Barbosa said.
The business expanded beyond coffee in 2017 with the introduction of Naked Kitchen & Coffee Bar, adding a food offering centred on fresh produce and home-style cooking.
“Naked Kitchen is a recipe consisting of the things we love – fresh produce, passion and beautiful home-style cooking,” Barbosa said.
Naked Coffee now has six outlets, with five in Johannesburg and one in Sea Point, Cape Town. Its Johannesburg locations include Illovo, Hyde Park, Sandton, Morningside and Melrose Arch, with Rosebank becoming its latest location.
The Rosebank opening comes as One Rosebank’s second phase is being marketed to buyers, with the development positioning itself around convenience, luxury living and access to the wider Rosebank precinct.
