Durban – Thobeka Majozi has announced that she is taking over the management of her family’s boutique hotel in Durban, after initially planning to open a coffee shop on the property.
In a video shared on Instagram, Majozi showcased the establishment and explained that her original idea was to launch a café within the hotel. However, plans shifted when her mother entrusted her with running the entire business.
“Not only have I gotten into a new business venture but I’m also bringing you along with me as I figure this out because I’m just a girl,” she said.
She said that the hotel forms part of several businesses under their family umbrella, established with a focus on legacy, inheritance and generational wealth. The boutique hotel is located in La Lucia, Durban.
“What are we figuring out? Well, we have many businesses under our family umbrella. Mainly for legacy, inheritance, [and] generational wealth. One of them being this boutique hotel based in La Lucia, Durban … So, I approached my mother to open up my coffee shop café at this establishment, but lo and behold, she handed me the keys for the entire boutique hotel,” she said.

Thobeka added that the opportunity means she is now not only building a café, but also officially stepping into ownership of the boutique hotel.
“So not only am I building a coffee shop café, but I’m also now officially an owner of a boutique hotel. And I just want to remind you that I’m just a girl,” she continued.
Inviting her followers to be part of the journey, she said: “So come with me as I take you along with me while I figure out this new venture. I’m taking you along with me for the love, support, accountability, and insight of do’s and don’ts.”
She noted that the establishment already reflects her mother’s commitment to excellence and does not require extensive work. Instead, her focus will be on rebranding and revamping the hotel while setting up her café.
“Fortunately, my mother always strived for excellence. The establishment doesn’t have too much work to work on [do]. My work is just to rebrand and revamp my hotel, while I’m setting up my coffee shop,” she said.
Encouraging engagement, she added: “So, weigh in, feel free to let me know what to do. There’s so much to do with this space, and please send all your love and prayers because I need them. I’m just a girl.”
