Cape Town – Actress and DJ Thuli Phongolo has strongly defended herself after false allegations about her private life circulated widely on social media, prompting heated exchanges online.
The controversy began on X (formerly Twitter) after Chris Excel, an anonymous account known for fuelling online debates, shared posts alleging that DJ Prince Kaybee and businessman Edwin Sodi had previously been involved with Phongolo.
The claims quickly gained traction and sparked widespread discussion.
Prince Kaybee later reacted to the posts with a laughing response, writing, “lol you motherf**ker,” accompanied by laughing emojis, a reaction that further intensified the online conversation.
Lol you motherfucker.😭 https://t.co/FKIgJ3Bi0P

Phongolo swiftly dismissed the allegations, directly challenging the narrative being spread. “Uhm, since when? If you’re going to entertain it, you might as well clear it with the TRUTH. I’ve never slept with you or Edwin for that matter! This whole narrative of trying to paint me as loose is tired,” she wrote, firmly rejecting the claims.
Uhm, since when?
If you’re going to entertain it, you might as well clear it with the TRUTH. I’ve never slept with you or Edwin for that matter! This whole narrative of trying to paint me as loose is tired, I don’t play with my pussy please! 🤚 https://t.co/UWcxWBHkba— Thulisile Phongolo (@Thulii_P) June 18, 2026
She also expressed frustration over her inability to access her previous X account, adding, “It’s a pity I can’t retrieve my previous account. Thuli_P username now belongs to someone else.”

Taking the matter further on her Instagram Stories, Phongolo reposted the viral posts and criticised both the original claims and those engaging with them. “Today I woke up VERY Xhosa and petty ke sana! It’s one thing Chris going off on this narrative but entertaining it as though it’s true knowing it’s NOT and feeding into this disgusting circus is where I draw the line,” she wrote.

She strongly denied ever being involved with the individuals mentioned, adding, “I DON’T PLAY WITH NUNA… if you know me personally, YOU KNOW!” She also clarified her limited interaction with Prince Kaybee, stating that they had only met once briefly at the gym this year.
Phongolo further expressed frustration at what she described as repeated false narratives about her personal life. “I’ve never been with anyone I’ve never dated. I can count the people I’ve dated on one hand,” she said, adding that such rumours damage how she is perceived publicly.
She also suggested that men often contribute to spreading such narratives because they benefit from them, concluding her remarks with, “Ndidikwe finish!”

In response, Prince Kaybee also addressed the situation, distancing himself from the allegations and pushing back against being implicated. “Clear what rumour? I’ve never started a rumour; all that energy should’ve been directed to Maphorisa when he was allegedly abusing her,” he said, adding that he refused to be used as a “punching bag” in the ongoing online discourse.
