Cape Town – Minnie Dlamini appears to have had enough of the online chatter surrounding her wedding expenses, sharing a pointed message after revealing that she personally paid about R1.5 million towards her wedding to Quinton Jones.
The media personality reposted a handwritten note on her Instagram Stories over the weekend, with the words: “Explaining myself is too much work, please just judge me.”
The post came days after Dlamini’s interview with 947 presenter Thando Thabethe attracted widespread attention, particularly her comments about who paid for her wedding.
During the interview, Dlamini said the wedding cost millions of rands, excluding sponsorships. She put her personal expenses, which she described as “hard costs”, at approximately R1.5 million.
When Thabethe asked whether she had paid for the entire wedding, Dlamini answered yes. Asked why Jones had not contributed, she replied: “Next question.”
Yooooo Minnie Dlamini financed her wedding for R1.5 million by herself. She was really desperate for the marriage and wedding……. https://t.co/5SvawV399g

The exchange prompted fresh discussion on social media about the couple’s wedding finances and their relationship.
Some social media users interpreted Dlamini’s remarks as meaning she had paid her own lobola. However, she did not mention lobola during the interview, and the exact expenses covered by the R1.5 million have not been detailed.
Lobola is a customary arrangement involving negotiations between families and is separate from the costs of hosting a wedding celebration.
Dlamini’s Instagram post followed the viral interview, which renewed public interest in her marriage to Jones and their ongoing divorce proceedings.
The former couple married in 2017, holding a traditional ceremony in July before their white wedding in September. Their wedding preparations and celebrations were also featured in the television series Minnie Dlamini: Becoming Mrs Jones.
Media personality Minnie Dlamini has shocked fans by revealing that she personally funded her lavish 2017 wedding, shelling out a staggering R1.5 million, while her ex-husband, Quinton Jones contributed absolutely nothing. https://t.co/pan1Rl70hy

They announced their separation in 2022, but Dlamini has said their divorce has not yet been finalised.
Away from the online debate, Dlamini also shared moments from a getaway with her friend Naledi Radebe, popularly known as Leddi G.
Sharing photographs from their bush getaway, the presenter captioned the post: “You know that person who hears, ‘I’ve had a rough month’ and says ‘pack a bag’? Who’s yours?”
