Cape Town – Springbok star Cheslin Kolbe has given fans an update on his recovery, one month after suffering a broken jaw against the All Blacks.
Kolbe shared the update on Instagram on Tuesday, saying he was making progress but was not yet ready to enjoy one of his favourite foods.
“For all those asking and checking in. Half way there before I can finally chew a steak,” Kolbe wrote.
He thanked fans for their messages and said he was looking forward to returning to the field.
“Cannot wait to be back on the field again! 1 month in. God is in control 🙏,” he added.
Kolbe suffered the injury on 5 September during the Springboks’ 29-24 win over New Zealand at FNB Stadium in Soweto.

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus later confirmed that Kolbe had broken his jaw.
Shortly after the injury that Kolbe was expected to miss several weeks while recovering, with the winger ruled out of the final Test against the All Blacks in Baltimore.
His wife, Layla Kolbe, travelled to Johannesburg to be with him following the injury and
Kolbe was expected to be out for about eight weeks because of the broken jaw.
The 32-year-old has now reached the one-month mark in his recovery and appears eager to get back on the field.
For now, though, it seems there is still some time to go before Kolbe can comfortably tuck into a steak again.
