Durban – Popular Maskandi artist Scebi Dlamini, known as Nkosi Yamagcokoma, has died in a road accident in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.
According to SABC News, Dlamini, who was from Msinga, died at the scene of the crash at an intersection.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident, while two other people were taken to hospital.
His death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from the music and arts community, which has mourned the loss of the popular artist.

A report by The Citizen, said that Dlamini was travelling to a performance in Richards Bay on Sunday morning when the accident occurred. Three members of his stage crew were also in the vehicle. His family and management confirmed his death and said another crew member, Gumu “Gupta” Mchunu, also died.
One crew member is in a critical but stable condition, while another is receiving medical treatment.
“We are devastated by this unimaginable loss,” the family and management said, asking the public and media to give the family, friends and team privacy as they come to terms with the tragedy.
KwaZulu-Natal Transport and Human Settlements MEC Siboniso Duma said the crash happened at a traffic light opposite Melomed Hospital in Richards Bay.

The Department extends its deepest condolences to the Dlamini family, the community of Msinga, and the broader Maskandi fraternity.

“The team from Road Traffic Inspectorate, Umhlathuze Traffic, working with the South African Police Service and other emergency rescue services did everything in their power, but unfortunately Inkosi Yamagcokama succumbed to severe injuries and died at the scene of the accident,” Duma said.
The music and arts community have responded with profound sadness to Dlamini’s passing.
The KZN Department of Transport described him as “an invaluable asset to the nation”, saying he had carved out a special place in the hearts of millions of Maskandi music lovers and had helped put Msinga on the map.
The accident is being investigated by the police’s accident unit.
