Cape Town – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says his party will never enter into an alliance with the Democratic Alliance (DA) or the Freedom Front Plus (FF+).
Malema made the remarks as South Africa prepares for the local government elections in November, with political analysts suggesting that coalition governments are likely to remain a key feature of the country’s political landscape.
The DA and FF+ are currently part of the Government of National Unity (GNU) alongside the ANC and other political parties.
Addressing supporters, Malema said the EFF would not align itself with parties it believes represent the interests of South Africa’s oppressors.

“We will never align with the Democratic Alliance. We will never align with the DA,” he said.
Malema argued that any alliance with the DA or FF+ would undermine the progressive ideals that many South Africans had fought and sacrificed for during the struggle against apartheid.
“I would rather be on the streets of South Africa than tie with the enemy. I will never tie with the enemy. I would rather die than tie with the enemy,” he said.
He also criticised the United States, saying it would never be regarded as a friend of South Africa.
“America will never be our friend. Even if it donates planes to us, we must never get planes that were used to kill children in Palestine and the planes that were used to oppress the people,” Malema said.
