Johannesburg – Ndodana Tshuma, the Zimbabwean-born British man accused of murdering his wife and two daughters in the UK, has appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court following his arrest in Kensington on Friday.
Tshuma is accused of killing his family at their home in Bedfordshire before fleeing the UK via Dubai to South Africa. The bodies were discovered two days after his departure.
He was arrested in a joint operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Interpol. While extradition proceedings to the UK are expected, Tshuma currently faces only a South African charge of possessing an unlicensed firearm allegedly bought in a Gauteng township.
Several of his relatives attended the court proceedings but did not comment.

The 45-year-old Zimbabwean national will remain in custody while authorities verify his legal status in South Africa.
During his appearance on Monday, the magistrate informed Tshuma that a conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm carries a minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment for a first offence, increasing to 20 years for a second offence and 25 years for a third offence.
“The state has informed the court that they need to verify the legality in the Republic of South Africa, which means that, for now, you will be kept in custody, and you will be brought before this court again on 22 July 2026,” the magistrate said.

The court further told Tshuma that once his immigration status has been confirmed, “you will be given the opportunity to appear in court for bail applications.”
Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has meanwhile confirmed that Tshuma will be extradited to the United Kingdom once the necessary legal processes and documentation have been completed.
