Limpopo – Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt after a group of 10 armed suspects allegedly robbed a 29-year-old foreign national at his home in Mohlabaneng village before fleeing with his Toyota Hilux bakkie.
The incident occurred at about 02:00 on Friday, 3 July, in the Bolobedu policing area under the Mopani District.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the victim was asleep when he heard someone calling his name from outside his house.
When he responded, the caller instructed him to open the door.
Police said that after opening the door, the victim was confronted by 10 unidentified men, all of whom allegedly had their faces covered with balaclavas.
The suspects were reportedly armed with firearms, including one carrying a rifle.
One of the men allegedly demanded the keys to the victim’s white Toyota Hilux D4D bakkie.
When the victim refused, the suspects assaulted him until he handed over the keys, police said.
The gang then allegedly fired several shots before fleeing the scene in the stolen vehicle, valued at approximately R150,000.
Police said the victim did not sustain any visible injuries during the robbery.
A case of house robbery has been opened, and police have launched a search for the suspects.
