Cape Town – The Madlanga Commission has withdrawn Major-General Feroz Khan’s application to present portions of his evidence behind closed doors after Commission Chair Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga ruled that the request was too vague to warrant approval.
According to IOL, Khan’s legal team informed the commission that he remains unconscious and sedated, making him unable to testify.
Counsel told the commission that they had obtained Khan’s J88 medical report and were still awaiting a medical certificate. They added that doctors have restricted access to Khan due to his medical condition.

The legal team also disclosed that they are reviewing a substantial volume of evidence, including approximately 370,000 pages of WhatsApp messages and a further 11,000 pages of bank records.
They estimated that analysing the material could take around 200 days and asked for additional time to prepare a fully substantiated application.
Meanwhile, SABC News reported that the commission is also expected to receive an update from businessman and alleged informer Tumelo Nku regarding his supplementary statement.

Nku’s testimony was halted on Monday after he requested more time to supplement his statement before continuing his evidence.
