Johannesburg – Police have launched a manhunt for suspects involved in the murder of an 18-year-old learner who was allegedly attacked with a panga in Braamfischerville, west of Johannesburg, on Tuesday.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), officers were called to a local clinic at about 10:35am after receiving a report of a death. Upon arrival, medical personnel directed police to the body of the teenager, who had succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack.
Police said the pair later went to a secondary school in the area, where the teenager was allegedly attacked and assaulted by unknown suspects.
The victim suffered severe injuries and was transported to a nearby clinic in a private vehicle for medical treatment. However, he later died from his injuries.
The motive for the attack remains unclear and no arrests have been made.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111 or provide information anonymously through the MySAPSApp.
Investigations are continuing.
