Johannesburg – The South African Police Service has warned the public against a growing number of fake police recruitment advertisements circulating on social media and other online platforms.
In a statement, SAPS expressed “serious concern” over misleading vacancy posts being shared online and urged people not to forward or engage with the adverts.
“Members of the public are hereby cautioned about these misleading posts currently making the rounds,” police said.
SAPS stressed that all official vacancies are advertised exclusively on its official website.
“Please take note that SAPS will only advertise vacancies on its official website,” the statement said.
Police also warned the public against recruitment scams involving payment requests, emphasising that no fees are required during any stage of the recruitment process.
“THE SAPS WILL NEVER request any form of payment at any stage of a recruitment process. Any request for payment should be treated as fraudulent and reported,” police said.
Authorities urged South Africans to remain vigilant and rely only on verified SAPS communication platforms, including its official website and social media accounts, for authentic recruitment information.
“The public is strongly urged not to share or forward such fake posts or links, as this may contribute to fraudulent activities,” SAPS added.
