Mugabe admitted to offences relating to illegal immigration and firearm possession, while Matonhodze pleaded guilty to attempted murder and additional charges.
In last week’s proceedings, the court heard that the victim of the shooting, security guard Sipho Mahlangu, will receive a total payout of R400,000.
Mahlangu has already been compensated R250,000, with a further R150,000 still outstanding.
Investigating Officer Craig Raj, testifying in aggravation of sentence, revealed this information and urged the court to impose a severe penalty.
He noted that both accused have refused to disclose the whereabouts of the firearm used in the attack, heightening calls for a harsh sentence.
