Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed the details of the bust, saying, “This was a well-coordinated operation which prevented drugs and other illegal substances worth millions from reaching our communities. We remain committed to tightening the grip on smuggling routes through Limpopo.”
The suspects were unable to explain where the items came from, and police believe the substances were likely destined for the Groblersbrug border post outside the Waterberg District.
The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the officers involved for their diligence, reported The Citizen.
They appeared in the Thabazimbi Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession and smuggling of illicit substances. The matter has been postponed to 22 September 2025 to allow for further investigations.
