Johannesburg – Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya is on Wednesday challenging his July suspension by National Commissioner Fannie Masemola in the North Gauteng High Court.
Masemola suspended him over the alleged unlawful disbandment of the KwaZulu-Natal political killings task team, which Sibiya denies.

He is seeking reinstatement and has submitted a supplementary affidavit citing Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia’s concerns about the return of 121 dockets to the task team, as well as President Cyril Ramaphosa’s questioning of Masemola’s decision to remove the dockets from Sibiya’s office.
