Cape Town – In a lighthearted exchange that captured social media attention, ArgentinaPresident Javier Milei presented Elon Musk with a chainsaw during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, DC on Thursday.
Musk, holding the chainsaw aloft, referred to it as “the chainsaw for bureaucracy”, BBC reported.
The chainsaw was engraved with the phrase “Viva la libertad, carajo”, which translates to “Long live liberty, damn it”.

Milei famously used the chainsaw as a symbol during his successful 2023 presidential campaign to represent his commitment to significant cuts in state spending.
Musk, working under U.S. President Donald Trump, is implementing widespread government job cuts affecting bank regulators, forest workers, rocket scientists, and thousands of other employees.
Thursday, 6,000 Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employees were informed of their termination, according to a source familiar with the matter, Reuters reported.
