Pretoria — President Cyril Ramaphosa engaged in a telephone discussion with United States President Donald Trump on the morning of 6 August 2025, focusing on bilateral trade matters between the two countries.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency, the leaders agreed to continue further engagements, acknowledging the ongoing trade negotiations that the US is currently pursuing.
“The two leaders undertook to continue with further engagements recognising the various trade negotiations the US is currently involved in. Respective trade negotiating teams will take forward more detailed discussions,” the statement said.
