Cape Town – The Constitutional Court has dismissed an urgent application by former president Jacob Zuma and the MK party challenging President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to place Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on leave, appoint Firoz Cachalia as acting police minister, and establish a commission of inquiry.
The case stemmed from political interference allegations made by KZN police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
The court ruled that the Constitution allows the president to place ministers on leave when facing allegations and to appoint acting ministers.
